About the Job
Female, late 20s to early 40s (flexible casting) Smart, funny, independent, and emotionally perceptive. Beneath her confidence lies a vulnerability about love, relationships, and self-worth. Requires strong comedic timing and the ability to transition naturally into moments of genuine emotional depth. Synopsis: The Kiss is a witty and heartfelt romantic comedy about friendship, love, and the complicated space between them. When Dennis stops by his longtime friend Allison’s apartment on the way to a date, he asks an unusual favor: he wants Allison to kiss him and honestly evaluate his technique. What begins as an awkward experiment quickly spirals into a funny and revealing conversation about attraction, rejection, and the nature of romantic love. As old insecurities and hidden truths surface, Allison and Dennis are forced to confront a surprising question: if they care so deeply for one another, why aren't they in love? Casting Notes: A two-person play requiring actors with strong chemistry, sharp comedic timing, and the ability to navigate rapid shifts between playful banter and emotional vulnerability. The relationship should feel authentic, lived-in, and deeply affectionate. As the title implies, heavy kissing intimacy is required. The cast will be working closely with an intimacy coordinator to help facilitate any and all aspects of physical intimacy required of them for this production.
